Your own template
Use your own PowerPoint template with AI, and keep your design.
Upload your .pptx and say what the new slides are for. Slaide reads the layouts, fonts and colours of your file, builds new slides in the same style and gives you a PowerPoint back.
Free account, no credit card. The free plan reads the first 3 slides of a file.
What Slaide reads in your file
- The layouts of your slides
- Fonts and colours of the design
- Recurring text such as footers and company names
- Your speaker notes
On Plus, Pro and Max, slides you do not change stay byte for byte as they were.
To use your own PowerPoint template with AI, upload it as a .pptx (up to 30 MB) and describe what the new slides are for. Slaide reads the layouts, fonts and colours of your file, builds new slides in the same style and returns an editable PowerPoint. The import opens .pptx files, so save a .potx template or an old .ppt as .pptx first. The free plan reads the first 3 slides, Plus up to 12, Pro and Max up to 150.
How it works
From your template to the finished deck.
Upload your .pptx
Create a free account and choose your file, up to 30 MB. Slaide opens it as an editable document and shows how many of its slides it could read in full.
Say what the new deck is for
Write a sentence or two: audience, purpose, length and anything that must not change. Attach the material to use, such as Excel or CSV files, Word documents, PDFs or images.
Watch it work in your design
The slides change in the editor while Slaide works. Afterwards you click text to edit it, undo steps or write the next request.
Download it as PowerPoint
Get a .pptx for PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides, or a PDF to send. The deck stays in your library if something needs changing later.
What carries over
Your design, read from your file.
Layouts
Slaide records the layouts of the slides you upload, so new slides are built to look like them.
Fonts and colours
The fonts and colours of your design go into every request. Embedded fonts are used directly.
Recurring text
Footers, company names and other text that repeats across your slides.
Speaker notes
Notes in your file come along, show under each slide and return in the export.
Slides you do not change
On Plus, Pro and Max the export takes them byte for byte from your original file, animations included.
Your original file
Slaide works on a copy. The file on your computer is never touched.
Typical jobs
What suits a template workflow.
New numbers, same deck. Upload last quarter's report, attach the new spreadsheet and ask Slaide to replace the figures and adjust any headline that no longer holds.
New slides, same look. Upload your company deck, describe the audience and let Slaide add the missing slides in the style of the ones you already have.
A second language. Translate the whole deck, speaker notes included, and let Slaide check every slide for text that no longer fits.
Improve an existing PowerPointRead your brand from your website
One request, start to finish
- Upload: last quarter's board deck (.pptx)
- Attach: this quarter's figures (Excel)
- Ask: replace the numbers, fix the headlines, add a risks slide
- Download: a PowerPoint in the same design
Check every changed slide in the editor before you download.
How tools handle it
Your own template, tool by tool.
What each tool documents about working with your own PowerPoint design. The facts come from vendor pages and help articles, checked between July and October 2026.
| Tool | With your own PowerPoint | Free to start? |
|---|---|---|
| Slaide | Opens your .pptx, reads layouts, fonts and colours and builds new slides in the same style. Unchanged slides stay byte for byte on Plus, Pro and Max. | Yes: one free document, no card |
| Microsoft Copilot | Works inside PowerPoint and respects company templates. | No: part of a paid Microsoft 365 plan |
| Plus AI | Works inside PowerPoint and Google Slides, so the result is a normal presentation file in your own app. The Team plan adds custom branding and templates. | No: 7-day trial |
| Gamma | Imports PPTX, but mostly takes the text and reapplies its own styling. Gamma documents that fonts, gradients and layout can differ after export. | Yes: 400 one-time credits, Gamma branding |
| Beautiful.ai | Imports .pptx with theme carry-over. The design is template-driven, so fine layout control is limited. | No: 14-day trial, card required |
| Pitch | Deck import takes .pptx only, in 16:9. Pitch Agent builds decks on the template you pick. | Yes, but no PowerPoint export on Free |
| Slidebean | Slidebean says uploading decks or documents in other formats is not possible. | Free signup; sharing and downloading are paid |

Before you upload
What to know first.
File format
The import opens .pptx files up to 30 MB. A template saved as .potx is not accepted, and neither is the old .ppt format: open the file in PowerPoint and save it as .pptx. Give the file a few real slides in your layouts, for example a title slide and two content slides, so there is something to read.
Slide count
The free plan reads the first 3 slides of a file, Plus up to 12, Pro and Max up to 150. After the import you see how many slides could not be read.
New and changed slides
Slides that Slaide changes or adds are redrawn from the Slaide version and placed between your unchanged slides, as ordinary text boxes, shapes and images. If you need them tied to your slide master, check them in PowerPoint after the export.
Animations and special objects
- Animations and transitions are not read. In the Plus, Pro and Max export they survive on slides you do not change; on changed and new slides they are missing.
- SmartArt becomes plain shapes, embedded Excel tables and similar objects come in as images, videos as their still frame.
- If Slaide changes a chart, it comes back as editable shapes or as an image, not as a PowerPoint chart with a data sheet.
Slides that cannot be rebuilt directly
If a slide holds something the direct import does not rebuild yet, such as certain tables, charts or gradients, Slaide reads the whole file through the PDF route. Some slides then arrive partly as images, and the import tells you how many are fully editable.
Fonts
Embedded fonts are used directly. If a font is not in the file, the preview shows a substitute and line breaks can differ. The free tool Replace fonts in PowerPoint swaps a font across slides, masters and notes first, in your browser.
Export on the free plan
On the free plan the export redraws every slide and carries a small Slaide badge; small differences such as other line breaks are possible. Slides taken byte for byte from your original need Plus, Pro or Max.

Frequently asked
Questions about your own template.
Can AI use my own PowerPoint template?
Yes. With Slaide you upload your .pptx and it opens as an editable document in your design. Slaide reads the layouts, fonts and colours and builds new slides to match. It works from the slides in the file, so a .potx template has to be saved as .pptx first.
Does Slaide use my slide master?
Slaide reads layouts, fonts and colours from the slides in your file and builds new slides to look like them. Changed and new slides come back as ordinary text boxes, shapes and images, so check them in PowerPoint if you need them bound to your master.
How is this different from Copilot with a company template?
Copilot works inside PowerPoint and respects company templates, but it needs a Microsoft 365 subscription that includes it. Slaide runs in the browser, needs no Microsoft subscription and starts free. If your team already works in PowerPoint and has Copilot licences, Copilot is the closer fit. More in the Copilot comparison.
Can Gamma or Beautiful.ai use my PowerPoint design?
Gamma imports PPTX files but mostly takes the text and reapplies its own styling, and its documentation says fonts, gradients and layout can differ after export. Beautiful.ai imports .pptx with theme carry-over. Both change over time, so check the vendor for the current state. More in the Gamma comparison.
Which file formats can I upload?
PowerPoint files as .pptx, up to 30 MB. A .potx template or an old .ppt is not accepted by the import, so save it as .pptx first. A PDF of your deck can be read too, with each page rebuilt as slide elements; see PDF to PowerPoint.
Is it free to try?
Yes. A free account reads the first 3 slides of your file, with no credit card; the export then carries a small Slaide badge. Plus reads up to 12 slides, Pro and Max up to 150. Everything else is on the pricing page.
What happens to my template (GDPR)?
Your account, uploaded files and documents are stored with Supabase in the EU. To edit, your request and the content it needs go through OpenRouter (USA) to the language model; training on your content is contractually excluded, and transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, otherwise on standard contractual clauses. Leave out confidential slides first with the Split PowerPoint tool, which runs only in your browser. Details are on the security page.
Can I keep working in PowerPoint afterwards?
Yes. The export is an ordinary .pptx with text boxes, shapes and images. You can upload the file again later and keep going.
